How do I start?

APPLICATION FOR ADMISSION: START HERE

This is most critical first step. We have admissions counselors available on each campus to guide you through the remaining steps.

Qualified applicants will have:

·   Completed the above Application for Admission

·      A current CLP (commercial learner’s permit) that authorizes you to practice on public roads with a qualified CDL holder sitting next to you.

·      Verified essential reading and math skills to best ensure successful completion of the training. (U.S. high school diploma/transcript documenting the completion of 9th grade or higher, GED, college diploma/transcript, or documentation of NRS TABE Level 3 scores or higher in reading and mathematics.)

·      Submitted a Commercial Driving Record reflecting a valid Commercial Learner’s Permit

·   Submitted a D.O.T. Medical Examiners Certificate and Drug Screen

What is the cost?

Tuition is $2,000 with books included. Arkansas residents will submit CDL permit ($50), commercial driving record ($10 by mail or in person, $13 online) and license ($42) fees direct to the Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration. Licensing policy and fees are managed by the issuer and may be subject to change. Permit and license fees vary for non-Arkansas residents based on the fee structure established by their resident state.

Is financial aid available?

Yes, a variety of government and public aid options are available help individuals pay for Arkansas Trucking Academy training. Financial assistance may cover various education expenses such as tuition, fees, transportation and childcare.   ArkTA advisors are available to provide you with more information.

When are applications are accepted?

The simple answer is – everyday. With new courses beginning monthly and with only 4 slots per course, we highly encourage you to apply today. Each course will maintain a “waiting list” and offer on a “first-come, first-serve” bases to qualified students.

Do I receive college credit for the training?

Currently, the program is a non-credit workforce training. Upon successful completion of the course, each student will be well trained to take the written and practical CDL (commercial drivers license) exams, providing you with a critical credential to pursue a career in the trucking industry.

Can I apply if I didn’t graduate high school?

Yes. All persons 18 years of age or older with verification of essential reading and mathematics skills meet the educational requirements for admission. Our admissions counselors can assist you in requesting / providing the necessary documentation / testing.
